Walk to Victoria Update

“Walk to Victoria – Update”
We’re looking for 1 million people to contribute just five dollars each, the price of a good cup of coffee. This grassroots effort will enable people to help people without relying on government-funded housing. The government seems to be constructing tiny, restrictive living spaces that resemble jail cells, where you can’t even have visitors.
Unfortunately, we didn’t reach Victoria, but I did manage to go 20K past Agassi. The weather took a turn for the worse, forcing us to turn back. We’ll resume our journey where we left off in the spring.
Despite the challenges, it was an enriching experience, and I encountered amazing people along the way. I made an effort to connect with individuals at every turn.
Every town we passed through faced issues like drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, and mental health struggles. There’s still a long road ahead, but we’re committed to making a difference!
Now that we’re back, our store is opening, and we continue to provide 23 meals a week, focusing on those experiencing homelessness and the elderly. You can contribute by purchasing a $10 meal and paying it forward. Come sample our freshly prepared and frozen meals (precooked for convenience).
For our store, we’re in need of coats, blankets, socks, pots, pans, dishes, diapers, gift cards, and bus passes—everything required to set up a thrift store. Our clothing, dishes, pots, pans, and bedding will always be free. We plan to sell electric appliances, toasters, clocks, ovens, kettles, dressers, coffee tables, and trinkets.
As a working-class nonprofit charity, we plan to organize various fundraising activities, including buy-and-sell events, music festivals, car washes, dances, auction sales, and bottle drives. Additionally, we’ll actively participate in the community, addressing mental health issues, supporting street outreach programs, and engaging with our local MLAs’ offices. We are the face of change, and our mission is to reclaim our community from government control. Unlike many other nonprofits, we have no affiliations with religious organizations or government housing agencies.
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
I am committed to walking from Nelson to Victoria to raise awareness for our cause. We’re departing on October 1st, and we aim to demonstrate that change is possible.
